I recently switched to Hagerty because they have more liberal rules for how you can use your vehicle. After talking with every other well known company, I learned that they didn't want me to take my truck on errands such as a trip to the lumber yard or hardware store. No one wanted a driver under 25 years of age. This one baffled me so I asked the person "where is the next generation of old car enthusiasts coming from if you can't drive an old car until you are 25 years old"? None of them had an answer for this. My Granddaughters are 21, 19, and 17 years old. They have been driving My Model Ts since they could see through the steering wheel. Recently they have all learned to operate a standard transmission in my 1935 Chevy Coupe and even the 1936 1-1/2 ton truck. Neav is getting pretty good at double clutching. Hagerty is OK with young people driving a few times a year, as part of their regular coverage. I opted to pay a little more so that all of the girls are good to drive as often as they want. They live 14 hours away and visit only 2 or 3 times a year but I just didn't want any issues if something happened while one of them was driving. I'm paying around $600 per year for 5 vehicles. I have never filed a claim on a collector vehicle policy. I have never heard of a bad experience with any of the major companies.
