I have a 1937 Master (sports) sedan with a 216 I-6 and am in need of a distributor. My mechanic couldn't get it through his usual channels so now I'm tasked with the job. I have been calling around and checking online and haven't found anything (except for used ones, but can't find a mechanic who wants to refurb one either!)

I'm hoping a decent unused reproduction still exists somewhere.

I have tried: The Filling Station, Chevys of the 40s, Special Interest Autos, Rocky Mountain Relics, some others that seem like they don't exist anymore

Amazon and other sites have distributors which they claim fit this car, but my mechanic says nope.

Any good sources recommended for finding this part? Thanks!

I would be willing to bet thaqt there is nothing wrong with your present distributor. Modern mechanics do not understand older Chevroet distributors. The shaft up and down free movement is normal.
About the only poblem they had was locking up due to the greasr cup not being used,
