I'd prefer to get "it" all at the same time.

I get enough different pieces of mail as it is. I'd sure rather not get "two" G and D's.

Bill,
It would be that the Classifieds would be made "available" but not mailed out, the G&D would come still in the regular mail intact. We are talking of a secure password protected VCCA electronic area. You have to remember that you are getting your issue a few weeks earlier than anyone in Maine, let alone out of the country. I think it makes the club more attractive to those who only seek membership for that reason. I seldom ever call on anything in the classifieds there is just very little there for my Chevrolet. I gave up placing ads because I was getting calls weeks before I got my issue, and I felt it was not fair. Especially when the guy you sold it to was reselling it three months later in the G&D for a lot more money. I understand business is business and that this resale stuff will still happen, but it would have been nice more people had a chance at it for the cheaper price I sold it at.

Hi John,
Restoration of any old Chevy is a challange but here in Canada it is even more of a challange as antique parts are very hard to locate. So given the opportunity to receive the classifieds at the same time as everyone else would be a bonus to myself and I'm sure all other members of the VCCA that out out of the USA.

Hi John,

Getting ads here on Chat in a password protected area would certainly be an advantage (value) to being a VCCA member. And be fair to all VCCA members in getting it at the same time rather than waiting for mail delivery at different times.

And then you have the member who does not have a computer. Does he have a complaint?

I feel that's an important question. Definitely one that should NOT be overlooked in this discussion.....

Although I don't think that idea will get a fair shake in here. Afterall, everybody in here has a computer. Or at least access to one at work, etc.

Until there's a box to check on the application that says "do you have a computer"......

It's true there is no real fix here. But by having an member area only on the web it would level the playing field for many more members then just the few that live in the west and receive there G&D within a couple of days of the mailing date.Reality is the computer is not going anywhere and the VCCA needs to move ahead to help increase membership and keep them once they taken the step to join.As time goes on there are less and less homes without computers.

Guys you raise a valid point, and it is great to see members looking out for other members, but if a member does not have a computer the town Library does, or I am sure they have a friend or a relative that does. Then can always ask someone to look for them, it just depends how bad they want to look for parts. They will still will get the classifieds with the G&D, and they will even have the option of First Class Mail if they pay for it. While it is true some people might not have on line access, but if we look at it that way there will always be members who don't. The computer has become just as an important tool for a restoration as a 9/16" wrench. Look not everyone is going to be sitting there with there finger on the button when the ads get posted, but at least this way everyone regardless of where they live will have an equal opportunity to access the classifieds.

Quite true John, If you get right down to it I guess we could all move out to Cal-i-forn-e-a or Are-We-Gone I am sure some of my family would miss me after I was gone for a couple of months, maybe, maybe not.

I don't think that will be necessary, for me, since I don't buy parts from the G&D Classifieds anyway, I heard you can get it on eBay!

eBAY hmm???? at 5 times the price almost forgot about that option. If VCCA wants to be fair then put a ballot in the next issue of G&D and let the majority rule. This way all members get a say, if they take the time to tick the box that reflects there feelings, lick a stamp and drop it in the mail.Just a thought.

March G&D arrived in Oslo today. No April-fooling, folks! Snow is gone and the pubs have arranged outside bars in the streets already, one month ahead of normal. So what is normal???? stressed

Geez Tony. PM me your address and I'll send you my copies. If nothing else it would be fun to find out if mine got there before the current issues.

The delay isnt a problem most of the time, I still havent had time to fully read several of last years so it isnt a major problem.
My postings on this subject are only stirring the pot.
I thank you for the thought though.

April G&D has arrived here in Florida...maybe I got it earlier than usual because in the Prez's message he gaves the results of a couple of motions and one of my motions (06-04) has passed with 15 'yes' votes...cool, very cool.
