Hi Bill, Yeah, life is good again with my new G&D... I find it really strange that delivery times for the G&D here vary so widely. USPS rural delivery may account for some of it, but you would think it might be more consistent.....even if it were consistenly late in the month. Oh well, just another one of those things when you live in the sticks I guess. I do a little bit of ebay buying from time to time and I've noticed long delivery times from the Indiana/Illinois area....don't know why....it just happens. Folks on the other end don't know either. Glad you enjoy the photo of my 48 Fleetline....I'll have to change the view once in a while to keep you looking!! I've peeked at your stable too from time to time......I really drool over that 56 convertible. One of these days maybe I'll get one of those "modern" cars. Have a great evening.......I have a new magazine to read

Here in Michigan I typically receive my monthly G & D sometime after the 15th of the month. Directing our flustrations about delayed receivals towards the G & D Editors isn't the thing any of us should do. The situation we're faced with isn't their fault or their problem, in my opinion. The problem lies within the USPS rules and regulations regarding delivery of Third Class Mail (or Standard Mail as they now refer to it). If you'll go to the USPS Web Site and search through their reams and reams of rules and regulations you'll eventually run across a statement that says they have (by their rules) between one and four weeks to deliver Third Class Mail. Isn't that what most of us are living with?

Hi Oldie,
Thanks for the information about the USPS rules and regs. I hope I didn't come across as blaming the G&D editors for the delay because I really wasn't. I'm sure the delivery time lies with the USPS. I just think it's strange that delivery times are not consistent. Sometimes its the first week of the month and other times its the 18th like this month........I could probably deal with it better if it were roughly the same time each month. Oh well, I have it now and am enjoying every page.
Hey Oldie.....I guess we're all just Third Class people  ;)ha ha.
Have a great day.

Wasn't recieveing my G&D since my renewal date of 4/01/06 so I thought I forgot to renew it and sent in my $30. In less than a week I had my January G&D. I thought, Boy was that fast. Mentioned that to Jean and Shirley and Jean said I never was deleted and they have been sending my G&D regularly since last May, but the only one I received was the January issue. Jean did send me the back issues which I got today and I am now going to check with local Post Office and see what I can find out. Thanks Jean & Shirley.
I think I'm a fairly wise person because I'm smart enough to realise I'm not too bright.

It appears that the problem on my end also stems from the post office.

Ken, maybe your G&D had to go thru Oklahoma and is frozen to a tree or the USPS workers needed it for fuel to warm up the distribution center with!

January G&D received here in Norway two days ago. CCON got a letter from the Postal Authorities this week explaining there were much more trouble distributing the Christmas mail in Norway in 2006 than before. So they also mess up the deliveries. It is not a wanted situation for any member when the transport links, (after the Finks have done their valuable job and delivered), are not managing their jobs as they should. It would be a great help if the ads from the magazine issues are put on the chat pages straight after the distribution from the printer. I trust they can be made ready for showing some time before the distribution.

Since Chevy Chatter II is currently open to the public, putting the ad pages from the G&D on this site would not be fair to the dues paying members of the VCCA. :( :(

The bad thing about us that pay dues is we don't get G&D at the same time so in most cases the classified adds are useless. January is pretty well over no G&D here in Canada yet.

That is correct, however the same is true of other related car magazines as well like "Cars & Parts" and etc. The magazines are all at the mercy of the post office unfortunately.

Yep, but as of yet this isn't a "members only" site so until it is the classified ads will have to remain in the G&D only. It is supposed to happen, but...it might be a while.

The good thing is i didn't join VCCA for the magazine thats just an added bonus.I felt being able to get and give advice on a hobby such as we are apart of was worth the membership. After all the club needs the funds In order to exist.

:( :( I have no problem with the ads on Chat pages being put on members' pages exclusively one month until the next issue is around. But let's allow other Chevy fans to join both as to the ads and the other threads as much as possible after the members have had the first priority of the ads. There is also a problem to get first to the limited parts for those not connected to the Internet, but hopefully they can ask the grandchildren for help? :)

SOLAN We ,at VCCA, are lacking one important item that would let us seperate VCCA members from "The general Public" and that one important item is a Membership Database! , there isn't one available to the BOD. The BOD has had oppurtunities to buy one, but haven't so far, and that is another story.

OK. OK. I hear you, but don't get heart problems, Mr. Mack. We are only discussing our favorite hobbies, Sir. You must have too high rates for running databases over there. The prices in Norway have been cut in half the last three years due to heavy competition. Before we recently changed server connection, we paid $ 300/year for the domains and running our pages incl. one membership database (400 members). We moved and saved half the cost. We then started two more,(forum and classified ads), but have to pay for using the pHp-system when we put paid company ads on those pages in short time. So for less than $ 300 we will run three databases yearly, and still give a good and reasonable service to both members, companies and all other Chevy fans here. I find it strange that VCCA really could have severe trouble financially, (and certainly not in the long run) to afford creating and running the sufficient size of a membership database, with more than 20 times more members than our club. May be you are paying far too much for the service? According to Norwegian prices it should be very easy for the Board (and convenient, not stressing for the members) to agree to some paid company banners/ads to collect the needed money and make the needed data base work already this year.

Solan Don't get me wrong, I have a good heart, and am not stressed out by your postings, I appreciate what you have accomplished in such a relatively short time. I just want to get the BOD's attention to the need for a VCCA NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP DATABASE! Part of the problem is how the dues $30 US is spent, most of the dues money goes toward the G&D. The other parts are privicy issues maybe some paranoia and some legit concerns, plus there are many old fashioned members.....Remember we restore to original condition 25 to 85 year old cars, that tends to make a certain number of us old fashioned, old timey folks. which I think can be overcome with a password login system, then the really BIGGIE! The out of the pocket cost, which could be reduced if the BOD would come up with a way that those of us that are somewhat computer savy could be utilized in the data entry and transfer to a central database. Many members do not really accept the fact that there is a need of a..... VCCA NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP DATABASE! . Your home web site is great, and I am sure you have a very usable MEMBERSHIP DATABASE!
