I'm confused again. In the Judging Manual it states "A vehicle receiving a 1st place Junior Tab award must achieve a minimum of 901 points" then is states "The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Junior awards will be given to the three highest Junior Class vehicles that score above the minimum points for each award level."

At the bottom of that section is states " All vehicles scoring 975 or above will advance to senior status."

Does this mean that the 2nd and 3rd place vehicles and any other vehicle in that class will advance to senior status without receiving a 1st junior if it scores above 975 points?

I have seen several cases where points wise this has happened but I don't remember any vehicles advancing to senior status without receiving a 1st junior award.

If a car scores over 975 points it should receive the Junior Oval and advance. Please note that the National VCCA doesn't issue ovals for cars that place 2nd or 3rd and don't advance. The host region will issue 2nd and 3rd Junior awards.

I believe your interpretation is correct in that this rule takes precedence over the first rule: " All vehicles scoring 975 or above will advance to senior status." They are saying that any junior vehicle scoring over 975 points advances to Senior status regardless of the competition.

There is simply some missing language.

It SHOULD say that in that situation it will "receive its First Junior AND advance to Senior status (in future meets)."

Any and all vehicles competing (in the same class) competing in Junior status, which score 975 or above, will ALL receive First Juniors. Multiple First Juniors in the same class, that is what it is talking about.

In a hypothetical situation - (again talking only about cars competing for Junior awards in the same class) - if 2 cars cars score above 975, they both get a First Junior (and advance to Senior status). A third car competing, and scoring say 960 points, would win a 3rd Junior (3rd highest score in that class). It would compete as a Junior again at its next Meet.

In a different scenario - with only one car competing for Junior status awards in a class - and it scores 960 (above 901) it would win a First Junior and advance to Senior status also. Simply a result of less competition at this hypothetical meet.

The language needs to be cleaned up a bit. It is a result of keeping some of the old language, and not re-thinking the whole paragraph / section in light of the change to allow multiple first juniors to advance if scoring above 975 points.

Gentlemen,
If there are more than one vehicle in a class that scores 975 or higher all of them move from Junior to Senior as first juniors. They all get 1st junior. They would receive a tab and a Junior Tab Certificate along with a gold National Certificate. So, you could have something like:

Class S2 1956 Full Size

Car 1 988
Car 2 987
Car 3 978
Car 4 956
Car 5 924
Car 6 902

Cars 1,2,and 3 will move up to senior status, they will receive 1st jr. and receive a tab and certificates. Car 4 will be second jr. will not advance, car 5 third jr. car 6 will be participant. Car 4 will receive a Silver Certificate for achieving a 950 but is still second jr.

We have had two multiple awards in the past 3 years, since we had the multiple award in place. It has not been a very big issue so far. If we had many cars above 975 in the same class, then we would have more to deal with.

The multiple award has been available to our members since 2003.
