bill,

and the term is frequently used, intentionally or not, in a non-flattering, derisive manner...something one should consider before adding it to their lexicon...

We were talking about motorcycles, so with very little consideration I used the words "rice burners" which refers to a Motorcycle manufactured by a Japanese owned company.
Those words are used very often among the American bikers who refuse to support foriegn intervention.
...sorry if I offended any of you rice lovers.

The kids that ride them too fast and too dangerously call them "crotch rockets". The small ones are “pocket rockets”. I had a student killed on one…going too fast and too inexperienced.

Heck, I'll apologize for kicking up some dust - if that's what I did. I guess I just wasn't aware of 'rice burners.'

Same then for "their" cars??? [edit: I see Chev Gene already answered that.... 'sorry']

Incidentally.... PC??? You can shove most of 'that' someplace where the fit should be tight. I think lots (many??) (most??) of the time that card is played it's simply to 'take advantage' of a situation.

Hey, I'm 'old.' I've had cancer. I was a 'salesman.' I'm of German descent. I'm a (practising) Catholic. It seems to me "jokes" can be made of ALL those things. If the jokes 'offend' me I'll likely just walk away muttering something about you're a F-head.

Whatever............

Bill.

Apologize for being from New Jersey? Never! That would mean I assume some sort of responsibility for all the dopes that run this State.

Believe me guys, NJ is as politically corrupt, over taxed, and broke as all of you may have read about.

The only good things about this State is that we don't get eathquakes, tornados or hurricanes.

HOG is PC. Surviving a fall off at 60 MPH is called "LUCKY", and as we all know. It is much better to be lucky than good.

Go to any neuro intensive care unit and monitor the cases if you think the patient is the only one affected by his actions. Most will be motorcycle riders, many without helmets and few with insurance. We pay for the treatment.

My solution would be that the groups lobbying for the repeal of helmet laws be responsible for paying the hospital bills of uninsured helmetless riders suffering from head injuries.

Hi George33Eagle,

Drove through GLIDE Sunday on the way home from the JYD Tour. Blew my horn, I assume you heard it?

Hello Raymond,

Unless you have a REALLY loud horn it wouldn't be heard eight miles south of Glide and Highway 138, but I appreciate the effort.

I'm sorry I missed the tour, some family obligations precluded my involvement. How did it go, or is that a new topic?

Loved your idea on the insurance for bikers George.

Now see if this makes sense to you guys....one insurance company that insured homes on the beaches of Florida went bankrupt because of the storms last year....so the solution (decided on by the insurance commission) to this problem is the charge all policy holders of all insurance companies an additional $70-$100 this year to pick up the 'bill' left by the bankrupt company.

Of course the only people that can afford beach homes in Florida are multi-millionaires +. Didn't anyone ever tell them that hurricanes happen?

Just galls me to pay to rebuild a multi-millionaire's home when he should have known better...and why doesn't the insurance commission require insurance companies to be 'bonded' or backed by something other than picking my pocket.

Somewhere in the Bible it says 'Folks who build homes on sand are freaking idiots' - or words to that effect.

Reminds me of a situation up here in Portland. The airport has been where it is since the 1940's. Of course enlarged and more runways and so on over the years. It used to be sorta "out there" by the river. Later on nice homes were built pretty much in the adjoining area.

Now, the owners of those 'nice' homes want changes at the airport because of the noise, traffic to and from the airport and so on.

How's that for stupid??? The airport was always there. At least it was there when the homes were built and the folks bought them.

How can some folks be so freaking stupid???

I honestly don't get it!!!

Bill.

bill,

ya got that right...attorneys defending the airport would call it "moving to the nuisance"...

that's why there are so many freeway sound walls being put up at millions of taxpayer dollars per mile, so that when we drive, we can't see anything around us...like driving through a dry canal...

It is like the people here who buy a lot in the woods and build a home and then try to keep everybody else out of "their woods".

Closing the door to others after you get in is so hypocritical.
