I have been reading my copy of the '32 judging manual (thanks again to Paul and Scott) and I don't understand this item.

à Radio Set (Model 36441) retrofit

Is this the police radio? or have I misunderstood something...

It's 364441 (not 36441 if that is what they have in the judging manual) and this is not the police radio. This is the same radio that we have had lots of discussion about on Chevy Chatter regarding the radio being a retrofit for 1932 and back. You can do a search and read all about the previous discussions. laugh laugh laugh laugh

How does one go about getting a judging manual? I have a 36 1/2 ton that I just finished. I belive it is 100 % correct from my research, but would like to know before it is judged.
Thanks

If you are refering to a manual telling you what is correct for your vehicle-it dosen't exist.

The manual telling how and what is judged on all cars is available from Steve Scott-see front pages of the G&D.

Yes, I was hoping that something like that existed ( dream on ). However, I appreciate the info on the judging manual and will start reading the G & D and not just looking at the pretty photos. If I had I would know the answer to my question.

JYD, I did a 'cut and paste' so this is the number that I have in my copy of the manual, it was sent to me via the internet, but I think it is the same as a hard copy (?). Went back and checked the copy I got and the number I pasted is what is in the manual I got; I am guessing that someone dropped one of the '4's' in transcribing the manual.

JYD, I saw your name as one of the advisors on the '32 manual so you might want to check and see if the number is just a typing error in the official version of the manual.

Back to my original question, since you say it is not a police radio why is a retro fit radio in the '32 manual at all? I just wondered why a retrofit is listed.

I have read and participated in the other threads on the first Chevy pass. car radio (which was model year 1933) since that radio was introduced (Dec. '32) after the '33 model was put in production.

I was one of the ones with a '32 car that wanted a radio, but learned I can't have one if I want the car to be original...

It just surprised me to see it in the '32 manual, and I wondered why it was there...

The feeling I got from Steve and others is that the VCCA really wants to have judging manuals for all years and it is a task (huge) to be tackled in the future.

Seems that we need to do what we can as soon as we can about building manuals before we lose indivuals with a lot of knowledge. IMHO

Just guessing, but I would say that the judging committee probably listed the 364441 radio as a retrofit in the manual so that the judges would know that this radio is not correct for 1932. laugh laugh laugh

That makes some sense; there has been some confusion about radios in a '32.
