What would you think changing the VCCA Judging Award System and present awards as foloows?
All Junior vehicles receiving 901 or more points receive a 1st. Junior Award and advance to Senior status.
All Junior vehicles receiving between 801 and 900 points receive a 2nd. Junior Award.
All Junior vehicles receiving between 701 and 800 points receive a 3rd. Junior Award.
All Senior vehicles that have not previously received a 1st. Senior Award and receiving a minimum of 901 points receive a 1st. Senior Award.
There would be no 2nd or 3rd Senior Award.
The Preservation Award would remain the same as today.

Excuse me. I should have said for the Senior Vehicles that all previous Senior 1st. winners receiving 901 or more points shall on the first time receive a Preservation Board and repeat winners shall receive a Tab for their board.

That is essentially what happens today in most classes. The reason is that more often than not there is only one Junior in a class. Same for Senior and Preservation. Other that that I don't support as a little competition is good and encourages people to upgrade their restorations. A 901 point vehicle needs to be improved. With the policy of advancing all over 975 points the best in class will advance and get duplicate awards.

Chipper, It might be that we should raise the points required to receive a First Junior and First Senior. Is that what you are saying. I would agree with that.
In VMCCA it 95 % for the Gold Award of Excellence which is equal to a first place.

NCRS does it this way: third flight is 75% to 83.99%. 84% to 93.99% is 2nd flight and top or first flight is 94% or better. to get the ultimate NCRS award, the Duntov, the car has to score 97% or better at the national convention after its passed it's Performance Verification . the PV is the most difficult to attain--every piece on the car must function and the car is driven about 10 miles. one light bulb non functional and the car fails the PV. the signal seeking radio must perform flawlessly. the vent window regulators on the midyear vettes must have no slop when half open. chock must come off fast idle as prescibed in the shop manuals.odometer checked over the 10 mile run and has to be within 5% of actual miles traversed. clock has to keep time accuratly. absolutly no fluid leaks evident on the car or blacktop at the conclusioon of the 10 mile run.mike

I prefer the VCCA judging.....I can drive my 65 year old car 1200 miles to get to the meet, give it a wash job, empty the trunk and get a 1st SR. award and enjoy myself.

After reading about the NCRS judging, I think that Chevrolets being judged by the VCCA, Is a way more relaxed judging system, As we can have fun with our cars and not have to take tranquilizers because of such a unbeliavable judging system like NCRS does. After reading about their judging rules and the VCCA judging rules, All I can say Is that we chevrolet owners are a happy bunch of people. Gee, I wonder, Do all chevys leak a little oil on the pavement, Or have I been having a bad dream.
