Mack,
Yes we have National Judging Schools scheduled already for 2003. The first one is in Tarpon Springs, Florida on Jan. 24th as part of the Sunshine State Winter National Meet in Area #9. Board members Bob Denison and Ken Farley will be presenting our judging 101 course to the members there. The next scheduled school is in Hanover Twp. New Jersey on May 3rd. This is sponsored by the Historic New Jersey Region and will definitely have Jack Anderson and John Mahoney presenting. We might have some other members of the judging committee present there too. I am not sure at this time.
The third school is scheduled the second week in August in Tacoma, Washington as part of the Northwest Meet. We appreciate the opportunity to travel to host regions and meeting members from accross the country.
What we have planned, pending approval by the National Board, is to have a "continuing" education program so that members can , first of all, receive judging credits for their judging awards which comes into effect this year. Secondly by having this continuing education, we can get more involvement from our members who have a lot of great skills and knowledge about things such as paint, engines, brakes, tools, etc. If someone would like to present at an area school, they would be able to do that. We are planning to have courses on how to be a chief judge, how to be a team captain, how to tabulate, how to set up a good judging field, setting up and operating a good field entrance checks, interiors, you name it we can present it. That is the long term goal of the judging school. Judging 101 is just a start.
We plan to have other schools this year at the area meets this summer. Hope that answers your question.
Steve
