Thanks for the pic.' lil' johnny, that's one nice COE. Back several years ago I had plans drawn up to install a bed very similar to this one on the '51 Chevy 5700 series COE I once owned. Would have went through with the plans, but somebody else wanted the truck worse than I did.

Hey! that is what I want my 57 C6500 with 261, 4 speed and 2 speed axle to look like one day except of course it won't have the mashed in nose look! (COEs are hard to come by in my neck of the woods)

Photos like this, keep the dream alive for the rest of us.

"Mashed in" you mean "high and proud", right?

I love this truck, what speed do you guys think, on the interstate with the 250 and the 2 speed rear? 16' bed, isn't that a little short for 50's cars/trucks?

Bet the cost of this truck would shock me...but compared to a new truck with the same stuff it might be close in cost, what do you think?

But one thing is for sure you don't have to worry about depreciation on a restored '52, if anything it will go up in value while the new trucks' value goes down and down and down.

Gotta buy a lotto ticket this week.....I hear you have to have a ticket to win, that must be why I haven't won yet.

Actually Gator a 1950s car is about 16' bumper to bumper, but that isn't what is required, what you must go by is front bumper to rear wheel distance, a little hangover at the rear is not a problem. Most open car hauling trailers have a bed length of 16' and are clasified as 20' while enclosed vans and trailers are classified by interior length of the cargo area. I have hauled a modern 1 ton pickup that is slightly longer than 20.5' on a 16' bed open car hauler. Just FYI

With my trailer I always wanted no vehicle overhang, if hit in the rear the trailer is damaged not my car.

Think about it Gator a 16' car won't hang over , only a 18' or 20' car. also it rides high enough that nothing but a 18 wheeler will hit the car before the trailer. Maybe you need a 40' gooseneck to haul your car on then you could protect it from road debris also. Road debris ( gravel rocks etc.) is a factor to consider when hauling a show car on the interstate

The problem with length occurs when I haul the '57 convertible (with a continental kit, if my wife has her way) or the '55 pu or '74 pu (long beds), the '32 car is no problem on length.

And with my luck it would be an 18 wheeler or a street rodded COE that hits me in the rear. If I could choose the rear ender of course I would pick a VW bug, but one never knows, does one (Plan for the worst and hope for the best).

I'm just depressed that I don't have a truck like this. The ones I see to buy won't ever look like this, w/o MAJOR money.
