here's a nice '29 1-1/2ton truck for sale on ebay...I'm posting the link here because it has the manifold heater that I don't see too many of...

ebay

jyd says the heater is incomplete, as "the air intake is missing the rear bracket and the funnel on the front is missing also. And, the fan by the steering wheel is incorrect as well".

Actually, that is not a manifold heater....it looks like a fabricated exhaust jacket heater, which is a totally different animal. And, the correct accessory Chevrolet exhaust jacket heater is a very rare bird too! :cool2: laugh laugh laugh

The silver pipe above the manifold sure looks like the ultra rare Exhaust pipe manifold heater made by the local muffler shop. Maybe my eyes are bad but sure looks like a pipe fabricated on one of the modern pipe bending machines. All the four and six cylinder manifold heaters that I have seen have a cast iron manifold piece hooked to sheet metal pieces. Is is possible that the old dog is tugging on your leg?

Chipper are you sure it isn't a "relief tube", that has been installed backwards ? Like some of the "dirty tricks" some ground crews used to pull on the flight crews on the B-25s that were converted to spray anti-foiliants in Nam? He!He!

Hey Chipper Dipper Doodle! Yes, that air intake could have been made at the local muffler shop, however, it's configuation (except for the missing funnel) is kinda sorta similar to the correct air intake for the 1929 genuine Chevrolet accessory exhaust jacket heater, and they were sheet metal, not cast iron. I have three of them for 1929 and 1930 and they are sheet metal as well. And, "manifold" heaters for 1929 and 1930 Chevrolets were aftermarket items and they were cast iron. Some even had a sheet metal cover. However, the correct GENUINE Chevrolet accessory "exhaust jacket" heaters are all sheet metal, and they are featured in the 1929 service news. There were also two types of exhaust jacket heaters as well, the double exhaust jacket and the single exhaust jacket. laugh laugh laugh

You need to get the complete set for 1929 and 1930 since you have a 1930 roadster delivery. They contain tons of information. You can buy them from the Filling Station. laugh laugh laugh laugh

desperados: To get better results, you might want to post your request under the "Parts Wanted" section of Chevy Chatter. You can start a new topic as well.

Good luck with your search! laugh laugh laugh
