I need '53-'54 5400 series hood side emblems, carb. kit for carter updraft, '47-'51 chrome cab grab handles, and 2 decent fender pads. I also have misc. COE parts available. Thanks ... lil' Johnny, I have an antique computer that has me very limited as to what I can do with it. I can not send or recieve email. Actually this is one of only 2 or 3 chat rooms I can participate, in. I may be interested in the nos coe parts you have, if I don't already have what you have. I don't mind at all if you'd like to call me via tel., my No. is (336)222-8080. The COE Tech. advisor you mentioned ( if Dave Dunbar) I've known him for about 10yrs. or so. If you or any of the other COE guys would like a peek at my COE's you can check them out at www.oldgmctrucks.com . The GMC's I own are featured there, you can see my Chevy COE,s in the background. Thanks, Spanky Hardy ...Collector Of Fine Old G.M. COE Trucks..........

( I got no more power here than you do ) and that is what this is a discussion forum )
But if you got something against VCCA dudes you could be eatin'at the wrong trough

Thanks, I am looking forward to viewing the pics.

MT, Nice pics of some nice trucks, what is the status of the '54 now? Would like to see it all finished. The '47 must be the one you are parting out. Shame, it was a really nice truck, must have been a tough decision for you, glad you are using her parts to keep other classic COE's on the road. Keep up the good work. laugh laugh

Thanks Gator. You are correct, it was a tough decision between the '47 & the '54 but the '54 was so much farther along than the '47 when I bought it,I had to make a decision. The '47 will be a great donor to keep other COE's on the road & it will supply the parts to complete the '54, not to mention enough spare COE parts to cover me for my lifetime anyway. chevy

MT, does the 54 have a 261 engine, and the granny CI 4 speed like the conventional cabs? There weren't many Chevy COEs in my part of Texas, ocassionally one would come thru from Kansas or the Dakotas with a custom combine harvesting outfit. I do know where a fairly complete AD COE cab is located on I-20 is for sale, It can be seen from I-20 about a couple of hundred feet away.

Mack, both the '47 & the '54 have the mighty 261 engine. Kansas is overloaded with COE's as are most wheat growing states from Oklahoma on up into Canada. Another name for a COE in the mid-west wheat belt is a " grain truck " & the standard color seems to be a green cab & a red bed.

That is the way I remember the COEs I think it may have been due to the length restrictions in some states. We still have many farm trucks sitting around from the fifties and 60s with 17 foot grain beds , some with tall sheet metal sideboards most of them are conventional cab C6500s with 4 speed and two speed axles. I bought a 57 C6500 conventional cab no rust and a couple of dents in the door with a 261 that had been registered two years before. I paid $200 but in some gas, a Walmart battery, bled the brakes, primed it with some WD-40 and drove it 12 miles home. I still have it, it was too good to part out, I thought, so I still have it. I bought it for the engine. Now I decided that I would pull the engine and sell the rest, after I had the seat redone and bought all the materials to redo the windows, door latches, new window and vent windows glass and the door rubber and a new floor mat. I may have to part it out since I don't have anything to haul it with.
