Hi, Chevychip! I known I have little hope of recovery, and I guess I really don't want to! It (the 1919) is a 490 touring. It's rough but it'll be nice and cozy inside the garage instead of the outdoor yard it is now. Just in time for the rainny season to begin. Once I have it inside, I say, "bring it on-" Once she's safe from the elements, she may have to sit for a while while I get PansyJane on the road. But after that- wow, my credit line's the limit!! Regards, David

No one with a hands on session in the automotive industry (vintage or modern) has any hope of recovery including myself. I work as a mechanic all week then fix cars most weekends. No hope for me. All previous replies are right, you will enjoy the drive more because you rebuilt the car yourself but I dont envy the headaches it will cause you while you are doing it.

thanks for the encouragement Tony- I guess having two cars in the garage is gonna be cheaper than keeping a wife...perhaps that's the kinda thinkin' that has made it possible for me to be married and divorced three (3) times!!! Well, I gotta get to work to suppose these crazy habit, so I will talk with you later. Chev on

Well David all I can say is you are a fool for punishment. I packed my first wife packing nearly 4 year ago and still cannot get time to work on my chevs. Wives are more trouble than they are worth. A friend always said "if it has tits or tyres they are trouble", he seems to be close to the mark. Have lots of fun. Tony

The enjoyment that you will get from learning about the car (and the era) is more than enough enjoyment. Collecting the parts takes time, but that is when you get to meet your new friends.
Since money is tight, my wife keeps teasing me that I can spend upto $200 to buy my next car. She was out of town last weekend, so I bought a '72 Chevy truck on E-bay for $162.50 (plus gas to drive to Illinois to pick it up).
Just to set the record straight, my wife enjoys the hobby and so do my young children. I hope that my children will grow to become third generation VCCA members!
I wish you luck, you will enjoy this project!
Chris
