I have a touring car. I was told it is a 1926 Chevrolet. I think it might be some other year. If any one knows the difference between a 1925, 1926, and 1927 please let me know. The serial # plate says SUPERIOR "K" and its car # 3V73500. The engine # is 2555512 It is a 4 Cylinder which I think might be a 1925 because of the "K" being a 1925 ??? also I might need a little information about doing a motor and transmission overhaulin the future.
You can E-Mail me at Classiccharlie@yahoo.com or

Thank You

Hi, Chuck-

I saw yoour posting on my question topic about putting the engine in my '25. Then I saw you here, and the other one, over there in the 1930's section.

I would be glad to try to answer anything that you might want to ask.

The information you posted is a little confusing, with the "K" in you ID number, but then a "V" also. I see that AntiqueMechanic is already on the case, so I'm sure he will have it all figured out very quickly.

I won't go into the questions about various details of your car, because I would just be repeating what he's asking. Let us know what you find out on this interesting question!

Hi Chev19264Cyl,

From our talk this AM it is fairly certain that you have a '26 Touring.

You ask about colors. '26 Touring only came in one color: Biscay Green with a Gold stripe. Perhaps Herb can jump in here and guide you to the color conversion chart.

You ask about engine and transmission rebuilding. Perhaps someone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area can jump in and recommend a local shop that can do that for you.

Also, welcome to the Chevy Chat. Hang around and pose your questions and I'll bet you get some help.

When is a SUPERIOR K not a 1925 calendar year manufactured model?

Between January and about July 1926, Chevrolet used the same nameplate that was used during the 1925 calendar year that were pre printed listing the SUPERIOR K as the MODEL. Chevrolet after January 1st identified the new model as a Series V, so stamped the CAR NUMBER 3V73500 on this SUPERIOR K namplate at most of the assembly plants in the US. The 3 prefix is for the St. Louis plant and the V is for the 1926 V Series. It is most likely that Chevrolet had pre purchased a larger supply then could be used in 1925 - so they were just used up at the various plants during part of 1926.

I would estimate CAR NUMBER 3V73500 would have been built about mid year in the June-July period and is what most of us call an "early V Series" with the '"late V Series" being built between August to December 1926. kenk
