Hello all. I’ve been around for a while but this is my first question. Thanks in advance.
I’m wanting to adapt a 1937 transmission into my 1948 with stock 216 and bell housing. Do I just need a 37 bell housing? The 37 is a different bolt pattern on the transmission side, and the tranny is a couple inches shorter than the 48. I appreciate any help you experts can provide. Thanks!

You probably should do some extra research on the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate. They changed significantly between 1937 and 1948. I expect that the transmission input shaft is also different. Plus the '37 transmission is a top shift while the '48 is a side shift.

Why do you need to replace the transmission?

Thanks for the response. I don’t have to do this swap, but I want a floor shift because I don’t really care for the column shift. I got the 37 transmission for a real good price. And, I didn’t realize at the time I got it that it wasn’t the same size and bolt pattern.

It will not fit due to length
