I have a 235 engine in my '61 Biscayne that leaks around the plug. Looking around it's almost impossible to find a replacement oil pan for it. I plan to take it off and cut out the old plug and weld up a new fitting. My question is, where can I find a replacement gasket and/or what type of gasket will I need for it?

You should be able to get that gasket at any auto part store. They might have to order it but you will have it in a day.
Have you considered installing an oversize oil plug? Might be a cheap fix.

As a reminder The gaaket geys stuck up on the blokc, not the oil pan, I use grease for tthe sticking,
Note that on a 1961 car 235 the engine has ro be rermoved to drop the pan

Hi Gene,
That sure sounds like quite a poor design for service.
I do remember that we had to life the engine on our '58 station wagon to remove the pan. Even with the engine lifted it was a real challenge to get the pan and gasket properly installed. I know the first time Dad did it one of the end gaskets fell out of position. Soon after that my sister was driving the car and the oil light came on. She immediately pulled over and stopped the engine. Dad figured out what was wrong and just kept filling it with oil so he could get it back to the shop. He was successful the second time.
