The person doing the interior of my 38 Cabriolet says that in his research that there are six buttons on the front seat. He knows that there is the ribbing but insists there are six buttons. I have never seen a picture of a seat of an original 38 so I can't argue with him. This company does concours quality work and I don't want this car screwed up. Does anyone know for sure out there?
My Master business coupe has six buttons on the cushion. This is a picture I took as the upholsterer was recovering the seat. I don't have a good picture on this computer of it prior to re-upholstery but it replicated the original. Let me go check my main computer and see if I have a better picture. Edit: Sorry but I don't have any pictures showing it prior to restoration.

Do you have the book A Pictorial History of Chevrolet 1929-1939? See page 238. Is your trimmer saying there would be some type of pleating similar to Tiny's picture? The camera angle prevents seeing the seat cushions but you can see the seat back and I do not see any pleating. Not sure if I can post a picture of the book.
The AACA library might have something as well as GM's media archives;
The GM Heritage Archive has trained researchers available to assist with your research, whether the endeavor is of an enthusiast, academic or commercial nature. Requests should be sent via email to gmhc@gm.com. The email should outline your information or visual media need and the intended use. For commercial endeavors, fees may apply.
Dave I have reached out to the GM Heritage Archives and they don't have any information other than a couple of pictures of the outside. I'm going with Tiny on this one so I told Dan ,the upholsterer, that his research was right. Thanks for the replies though. I can't wait to get this car done.
