Diving into my newly-acquired ‘51 Styleline.
Cooling system is being gone through including a
radiator recore. One newbie question: what is everyone doing for torquing down the thermostat housing? New thermostat and gasket.
I’ve got it at 12 lbs./ft., which seems snug but I was wondering what everyone else is doing.
Thanks

I use the torque values for SAE Grade 2 fasteners for these classic cars unless there is a specific value in the shop manual. Typically there are torque values for only critical hardware.

Thanks. I was looking at those torque values also.
My 12 lbs./ft. is a bit light but I’d rather not hurt anything.
Once we get running I’ll leave it be if it doesn’t leak.
