There were two different cable attachments in 1953, an early and late. The early has a screw in the center of the thing the ARMS FASTEN TO AND NO SCREW ON THE LATE. THE PROCESS IS LISTED IN THE FRONT PAGES OF THE 1953 SHOP MANUAL FOR BOTH DESIGNS,

thanks chev nut i think i can figure it out but my picture quality is poor on my shop manual down loaded copy thanks again
