Hello all,

I am looking for rebuild kits for my Delco shock absorbers, I know apple hydraulics does the rebuilding but they don't list Rebuild kits.

Google has not been any help, all searches point right back to apple hydraulics.

Any help would be appreciated.

i am not aware of anyone selling a rebuild kit for these Delco lever arm shocks.

I tried to rebuild the singe acting units on my'37. It was really an attempt to reseal them. Unless it is an unusual situation the internal parts do not fail. I expect that if they are run with no oil for too long the piston and bore will be damaged.

They are a little tricky to get apart. The shaft has splines and is pressed into the actuating lever inside the shock. It is easy to make a gasket to seal the end plate to the casting.

I installed a new style lip seal to replace the old cork packing in the stamped steel housing where the shaft comes out of the casting. It did not work because the shaft was worn and pitted in the area where the seal ran.

That is why the rebuilding is relatively expensive. That area of the shaft has to be repaired with either a very thin sleeve or spray welded and machined and polished to size.
