Hi all,
My son and I are rebuilding a 27 Capitol which starts and runs, but not well. I’ve traced the problem to where the wire comes in on the bottom of distributor.

My questions are
1) Is there anyone that rebuilds the Delco Remy 347-A?
2) If I switch to Pertronix ignition, what kit do I need?

Thanks,
Scothius

While I have not used but by previous discussions here dont bother with the pertronix units. At least with the original system it can be made work on the side of the road if the worst should happen.

Make sure that the small bolt that the wire is attached to is insulated from the distributor body.

In my '28 distributor, there are a couple of phenolic insulator rings that go around that bolt and keep it electrically insulated from the distributor body.

Also, there should be a paper-thin insulator strip that sits in between the movable-point spring and the inside of the distributor body.

Cheers, Dean
