Any ideas on where we can find this material or something close? looks like a corduroy material that I had on some pants back in the 70's!

Try Bill Hirsch Auto, it looks like Bedford Cord. When you get to their upholstery page for Bedford Cord you have to click “Click Here to See Samples” to bring up all the options.
