hi guys...i have a '31 Cabriolet...i have a new 6 volt alternator from the filling station....engine has no generator...no regulator...no charging system wiring...i am going to install this alternator..got it for free btw...it is a one wire gm style...what gauge wire do i use and where does this one wire go to..the ammeter is the original for this car...may have to get a new one i don't know yet...engine has a starter...it works....i have lamp switch which works...just need some wiring pics or help hooking up this alternator...will find a generator and regulator later...for now i am going to use this alternator...any pics or help is greatly appreciated....Cheers!

so you are putting on an 6v alternator vs the stock 6v generator ?? there is only 1 wire from either, they are wired the same, and it is 14g wire from generator/alternator to the ammeter.
i have the factory 6v generator and a friend has a 6v alternator. both installed in factory location and use factory wiring, same configuration, nothing special.
ammeter measures amps through it. so power has to go through the alternator in out
if you have the factory wiring harness, you just connect the wire that went to the generator to the alternator and done.
If you altered the wiring, then you will need to go back to factory routing or alter the solution. Do you have the factory wiring diagram ?? if not let me know i have the simple routing diagram.
