Brand new to the forum buy and my first post so bear with me. I have a 54 cast iron two speed powerglide transmission that's dry. Rebuilt years ago but has yet to be turned over. What would be the procedure for putting transmission fluid in for the 1st time. The 235 engine is currently not running but close. I can turn it over with the starter. I'm assuming I need to get some fluid in there before I attempt to started the 1st time. Thanks in advance.

I would do just as the shop manual states. Fill with 4 quarts of ATF. Start the engne with the PG in neutral.Add 5 more quarts of fluid with the engine running.
A1954 PG sould never be run for any length of time when in the PARK position as there is no fluid circulating in PARK.
