The 60th Anniversary Meet in 2021 will be one for the memory book. Touring the Corvette Assembly Plant, Mammoth Cave, various seminars at the convention center, meeting VCCA members from at least 8-10 foreign countries, meeting probably 1000+ VCCA members, viewing hundreds of VCCA vehicles that rarely make it out in the light of the sun, etc., etc are some of the reasons. The G&D will begin publishing articles about this meet beginning around January 2021.
We are always looking for volunteers to assist in making this event a success.

Bob While I cannot comment on "Mamoth Cave" there are several limestone cave complexes near me and none are an easy exercise BUT all that I have seen are worth the effort especially when the tour guide has good knowledge of the area. At 1 complex (at least) they have 1 self guided cave that has a prerecorded story and light switching equipment that takes about an hour to walk through. Tony
once we know WHEN it is i will know for sure as well as what i can help out with.
The information on the dates for the 60th Anniversary Meet has been in the G&D for a long time. Look under the "Events Calendar" section. The 60th Anniversary Meet will be from July 18th to July 23rd, 2021.
Episode 04 of the VCCA Spotlight has been posted on the Southern California Region's YouTube channel. In this episode, Dave Miner (The Tool Man on VCCA Chat) and Dave Cufr (dcufr on VCCA Chat) give us the latest information on what we all can expect in Bowling Green, Kentucky in July 2021!

I visited Bowling Green last Friday. Highlight was the sinkhole and the 8 demolished Corvettes. Also visited the mansion at River view (Great) Chaney's Dairy Farm, Fountain Park, and ate at the Mellow Mushroom. Lost River Cave was closed because of the Covid-19. Stayed at two places: The Marriott Courtyard and the Hilton. I recommend the Hilton and am staying there next year because it is more like home. The Courtyard I believe is for geeks. The Holiday Inn seemed too big.

Hi Jim, The video was very informative, and I appreciated all the detailed info that Dave and Dave provided, however, the 9:00 am CST time for the opening of hotel registrations was not accurate. It turned out rhat registrations were being accepted well before that time, and I heard that the host hotel was fully booked in half an hour. I was fortunate enough to have gotten mine in, but I know some members were not able to.
There was certainly confusion at the hotel phone lines over what was booked and what was not. Everyone I've talked to was told they got the last room. I called around 11am and was told they were sold out, but I could get a regular priced room. I put a reserve on that, and then the lady on the phone called the events people. They were not sure why it showed the event as sold out, and moved my room into the block right away. I started emailing members in my region, and told them to go this route. People were able to get rooms up through 2pm. All of them were told they had the last room!

The VCCA National Board of Directors has voted to postpone the 60th Anniversary Meet until Sunday July 30th and leaving Saturday morning August 7th of 2022. This was not an easy decision to make. When we plan on a VCCA Anniversary Meet, we sign a contract with the host hotel - Holiday Inn University Plaza, the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green, the Hilton and Courtyard by Marriott hotels and also with the NCM Motorsports Park for our car show and trailer parking. To make a decision to postpone a major event like this is no small undertaking. But it has been done. What do you need to know right now?
Covid-19 has affected many large scale events like our planned anniversary meet. It seems unreasonable to believe that it would make sense to hold an awards banquet with 500-900 VCCA members in the convention center. It also seemed unreasonable to believe that we could hold 5 to 8 seminars, where we have 75 - 125 people in a seminar room. It seemed hard to believe that 200 - 400 ladies would feel comfortable attending the ladies luncheon. Etc. Etc.
I am a believer that a vaccine will be developed within a reasonable amount of time. However I also believe that the vaccine will be dispensed based on a predetermined list of who should get the vaccine first. The federal government has not announced their exact list for determining a priority list, but my theoretical list goes something like this.....The First to get the vaccine will be - doctors and nurses. Second will be - ems workers, healthcare workers, ambulance drivers, pharmacists, etc. Third will be - military, police, firefighters and other safety forces. The Fourth will be - those at risk living in nursing homes. Fifth - Governors, mayors, congressmen, etc. Sixth - VCCA members who plan on attending the 60th Anniversary Meet in Bowling Green ( just kidding about this one ).
1. All hotel reservations that you have already made using the code VCCA21 will be automatically cancelled by the 3 hotels ( Holiday Inn University Plaza, the Hilton in Bowling Green and the Courtyard by Marriott in Bowling Green ). IF you do not get an email letting you know that your room reservation has been cancelled, it is YOUR responsibility to contact one of the 3 hotels that the VCCA contracted with. An email cancelling your room reservation will come over the next week to 10 days. Please do NOT call any of the hotels for the next 10 days to check on the status of your reservation. They have a skeleton staff due to Covid-19. 2. A contract has already been signed with the Holiday Inn in Bowling Green and with the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green, confirming the new dates for our 60th Anniversary Meet in 2022. 3. Your room reservations will not be kept in a computer by any of the 3 hotels for 2022. Hotels do not have the desire or capacity to change your reservation and then "hold" your reservation in their computer for the next 21 months. Sorry about that fact, since many of you jumped thru hoops to make a room reservation.
The official announcement of the postponement of the 60th Anniversary Meet will be in the December G&D. As many of you know, the November G&D has long gone to press, the November G&D has been printed and will be sent to all of us very soon.
We are all living in difficult times. Covid-19 has caused us to evaluate how we stay safe as people. My hope is that you, your friends, your extended family members have not been adversely affected by this pandemic.
NEW DATES for the 60th Anniversary Meet are JULY 30th - thru the evening of AUGUST 6th, 2022.

Safety of all of our members obviously is a top priority. To add to that fact, our border is still closed with Canada and many of our internationals would have difficulty in attending because their country discourages or bars them from traveling to the USA or the USA limits / bars some internationals into the USA. We all hope that these travel difficulties will be eliminated by 2022.

Not premature at all. Many overseas members plan these trips months ahead of time. Right now there is zero certainty and zero ability to plan for 2021.
There is absolutely no need for this thread to fall into a debate about Covid. Our board of directors had a decision to make that wasn’t easy. Half of the members may think it’s too early, yet put it off and the other half will think it’s too late, later. Let’s just all look forward to 2022.

Thank you Bruce. As one who personally doesn't like rain dates (even for smaller local events), I assure everyone this decision was not made lightly. There will be more details in the December G&D, but for now please be assured our intent was to minimize risk, maximize participation and decide early enough to avoid as much disruption as possible to our very faithful members.
Dave Miner will be editing his post above later, but just to let everyone know his dates are a little garbled: The Meet will start Sunday July 31, 2022 and conclude Friday evening August 5, 2022.
We appreciate your interest and patience, and hope you join us in looking forward to a blockbuster 60th Anniversary Meet!
