I have a question for the ”˜55 Chev owners, I’ve seen ”˜55’s with the gas cap under the left tail light and with it on the left rear fender. Did the model determine the location?

Are you sure you were looking at a "55" ? The 56 fuel cap is behind the left taillight and as far I know ALL 55s were on the fender.

All 1955 models had the fuel door.
