Ok, I’ll make a short story long. I replaced my 38 Master Deluxe with a 1960 Impala. The 60 had the 348 replaced with a 350(performance cam, solid lifters) and fuelie double hump heads. I need to replace the valve cover gaskets as one of them is leaking.
-With this not being stock and not knowing casting numbers, how do I select the correct and best valve cover gasket? I keep hearing Fel-Pro cork gaskets are most common.
Thank you
Michael

The "best" would be fluorolastomer gaskets with little stops to keep you from overtightening them. I think felpro makes them. They are usually blue. Completely reusable. Expensive but worth it.

Look at your heads and see if the valve cover bolts are in a straight line from the exhaust side to the intake side, or if they are offset. Choose an appropriate gasket with that info.

Make sure the sealing surfaces on your valve covers are straight. You may have to hammer them a little. The stops in the new gaskets should keep them from getting bent again. You might need longer bolts. Good luck.

thank you, I do like the idea of not having to use sealant.
