I’ve got a 2004 suburban with a bad 5.3doesnt run. I have a good 4.8 out of a Silverado that won’t cost me any money. Yes I realize it’s stepping down in power but it doesn’t have any power right now.would It be as simple as taking off the wiring harness, intake ect and put on the 4.8? Would it run that way with the 5.3 computer? Or would I have to retune? I’ve heard from different shops and dyno tuners both ways.

I would think it would be a good chance it would do ok with the 5.3 ECM. We used to figure if the cubic inch was within 10% the sensors could adapt for that much change. I would try it and you could always have it reprogrammed.

This thread may be more appropriate if placed in the 1990 and up forum. As noted in the Chat page header:

"Vintage Chevrolet Club - Chatter Forums
The VCCA is nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation, restoration and enjoyment of all Chevrolets and GMCs." Hopefully the change to the new logo will help to dispel the idea that only really old cars are welcome here.
