Hello everyone!

My name is William (Crazyfamily) and I am helping friend of mine with his newly purchased 1928 Chevrolet! The title says it’s a 1929 however from some of my friends over on the aaca Buick forums, I have a 1927 Buick and am a member over there, tell me it’s def not a 1929 but a 1928 titled incorrectly as a 1929!

I am aware there is lots that’s incorrect about the car but just helping him get it running for now!

Anyone have the correct color chart for 1928?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Crazy,

Welcome to the VCCA forums! Do you have any identifying numbers, such as casting numbers on the block, car ID number, etc.?

If it has a 4 cylinder engine, that certainly puts it as pre-1929. If you have photos posted somewhere online, you can use the Full Editor (see the link at the bottom of the page) to compose your post and ad image links to those photos so we can better help you.

Cheers, Dean

Hello Crazy; You could have a 1928 car registered as a 1929 just as I have a 1925 but is registered as a 1926. Back then Chevrolet had their renewal dealership agreements signed in August and allowed all new cars sold after that date to be sold as the next years model. (most new model year cars now come out in September) My car was built in Terrytown N.Y. in September 1925 as a series 'K'. The '26 series 'V' was built in January 1926. The only thing my car has in common with a 1926 is the headlight mounting and the spark and accelerator levers. If you have an ID tag on the side of the passenger seat it will have an 'AB' in the number and under that it should read 'National" showing it as a 1928.

Hello folks!

Yes it’s def a 1928 titled as a 1929, I explained to my buddy who I am helping how things happened back then! I’ve been in the car business with Chevrolet, Buick, gMC, and at one time we had both Pontiac, and Olds as well for nearly 20 years now!

Someone decided it was a good idea to forgo the work of the original interior and put in some junk “later model” bucket seats so the tag would be long gone. I can however get the numbers off the block, and they do match the tag on the firewall/bulk head!

This car is far from being original, wrong colo, wrong seats, wrong fuel pump, missing badging, wrong finish on bumpers and grill surround! However she was purchased for $3500 and my buddy who owned her is planning on just enjoying her!

I on the other hand am hoping he tires of it and I can get my hands on it! I kid I kid..... but if he did I won’t object! ????????????????

Any way to post pictures without using a third party website and links to do so?

Looks really nice and basically as manufactured. Original color was Green as were the vast majority of '28 Chevrolets. Think there were 6-7 different greens. I really enjoy my '28 Coupe.
