For my 1941 grey car.

I would like to get this straight once and for all. If I don't then the mistake I may make will, unnecessarily, be costly.

Ok, here is my question and please don't just give me your opinion. This is in case I ever have the car judged by knowledgable VCCA judges. I think you get the picture.

Owing to the fact that the 1941 cars came without an in-line filter at the carburetor, would having one on the car cause a points deduction?

If having the filter on the judged car what make and size and type would be acceptable. Carter, A/C, other brand?

As adding one, which I would like to do, would entail cutting the line, I need to know before hand.

Another question: Would the line need to be ferruled or just cut off and employe the use of a slip ferrule? (this not well said but you know what I mean.

Thanks,

Charlie computer

BTW: Mike: Your good intentions by advising one to go to "search" never seems to work very well for me.

To make it plain and simple Chevrolet did not offer a fuel filter in 1941. The fine screen in the fuel bowl was their version of a filter.
1946 was the first year to offer a filter. It was a Morain brand, a Division of GM . Next came the AC filter but thye never used a Carter.

No filter was offered for 1955 models either (except 1st design trucks) as they had the sock filter in the gas tank.

I would say a very few judges would be aware of this.

Gene,

Thanks a lot. I mean it. dance

Now I remember what you had said about this issue some time ago. These things slip my mind nowadays. hood

It is no filter for me. The judges will have been alerted to the no filter fact, if I ever have a 41 judged. Agrin

I also appreciate the quick response.

Best,

1937 and up had the invered glass bowl with screen.
1929-1936 (except 1934) had the glass sedamint bowl with no filter - except you can buy a litte filter that slips in for 1929-1933.

For Charlie and others,

To find EVERY post Gene has made, on (fuel filters) back to 2002 just use the SEARCH terms +fuel +filter and the DISPLAY NAME Chev Nut.
