Hi, I am seeking paint codes for a Gray paint that has a slight blue tint to it.
Generically named " Battleship Gray "

What year car am I painting ?
None, I am trying to paint some old machinery.
You can not buy any over the counter paint today that matches that old color.
I have 14 { otc} gray paints here to sample.
They go from whiteish gray, dark gray, to a dirty brownish gray.

So, you say just match the color on the machines.
None of my machines have the correct color.
The last machine my dad painted was in the late 80's.
That machine has been cleaned with acetone and diesel so much.
You can not see the blueish tint anymore. Just gray and black.
I do not know what car paint code he used.

If you know gray paints. You have seen this color. You would be able to spot a car at a 10 acre car show.
You can look at gray cars all day long. But once you see that car shine with that slight blue tint in that gray paint. It sticks with you.

It is hard to find a good color picture online.
Trying to think of cars I have seen over the years at shows.
Roughly thinking a car would be before 1948
I was thinking early Chevy. Maybe Ford, Packard and Rolls Royce.
I wish now I would have taken pictures and wrote the year of the car down !!

Any help or direction to look is greatly appreciated !!

It is like going to the auto parts store.

Buy a quart of Chevy engine gray from The Filling Station. It's dark gray with a hint of blue. The photo below shows the paint. The photo may or may not be the exact color depending on your monitor settings.

Chevrolet Truck Gray. It's correct for the floors of Corvair trucks and vans. Has a bluish tint to it to me. Ed VCCA#47508 Dade City,Fl
