If you are repeatedly getting logged off for no reason other than about every 30 days.
30 days is when your cookies should expire.

Then this is the place to ask for help.

First before you post for help I need you to perform the following steps.
Read and follow all of them Please.
Use only the following steps to expire your cookies.
Don't bother with your browser for now.
It should be done with the tool on this site. Not your PC.

Login to the site with user name and password.
Immediately after login
Select your name in the top right area to open a drop down menu.
Select Cookies.
You will be presented with all your current cookies and a note at the bottom
Read the note.
Select the expire Cookies button.
You will be logged out when they are cleared.
At this time it might be best to go ahead and force a refresh on the cache on your browser. (most browsers not all use ctrl+F5 to force a refresh.)
Clearing cache just makes this process happen quicker.

Now all corrupted cookies and browser cache should be cleared.

As a note there is a island box on the right called helpful links.
There are two of them.
One for lost password and one for expiring cookies you can use also.

Then Login again with user name and password
Check Mark the "Keep me logged in" below your password before you click on the login button.

This should resolve your issue.

Please post a reply if this resolved your issue or not.

If not please advise what browser and version you are using. As well as os and version.
And possibly your virus protection.

The more details we have the better chance we have to resolve this issue.
I will attempt to work with each one of you one at a time to get it resolved.

If you follow the directions it should resolve all but some rare situations.

If that is the case I may send a private message to you instead of making this topic to long winded to keep up with.

FYI,
I don't have this issue ,as well as most of the members so please be patient with me for asking a lot of questions.
I am trying to help.

10/9/2018 still waiting on feedback

Hi Reuben,

Thank you for reaching out to us on this topic.

You provided me a key piece of information. I did not realize that cookies expired after 30 days.

I never kept a log but that seems to match the cycle time before I had to re-enter my VCCA credentials.

Take care!

While (like Rusty) I have had to login on a regular basis but something like the 30 days. Some of the others are having to log in several times to make 1 post which would be very frustrating.

That is what this post is about to resolve that issue.

Just waiting on someone that can't stay logged in other than every 30 days to post here.

FYI,
I did find a issue with the captured IP per user, where every registered member had the same IP as the the server instead of their own IP..
I can't confirm this caused login issues but it did cause other issues.

If you have tried the expire cookies tool as I posted above with no luck, please try it again after today..

This is for you achipmunk and XLVIIdriver

Thanks for posting . Your post ip looks correct now.
It does help with the proper login credentials..

Just remember that it is designed to expire after 30 days.

Many people tend to monitor only a few of their favourite forums so if this message is not in one of those forums, they have no idea you are actively trying to help them. Until I discovered "active threads" I only EVER looked at the 37-41 forum.
As messy as it sounds, you may want to add the same message to most if not all of the model year specific forums.

This can be changed to a global post that will make it appear in every forum but that is up to Peter to decide.

I must have just hit my 30 day limit. I had to log in just now but it was easy. I have my IE11 browser set to remember credentials.

I will use the date of this post to check the next time I have to log in.

Thanks Ruben!

Just to be clear to everyone when cookies are designed to expire.
The setting is in minutes.
43,200 minutes which is exactly equal to 30 days after the initial login in minutes
So if you don't look at the minutes it could be 29 days or 31 days.depending on the time of day you log in. and the time of day when you need to login again.

And that is also if you elected the check box "Keep me logged in".
Otherwise your browser will decide when to clear the cache for the cookies.

I am trying to reset my password in the Forum. After resetting the password I attempt to save the changes at the bottom. I constantly get the following message: Parse error: Invalid numeric literal in /home4/vccachat/public_html/cache_builders/custom/portal_box_61.php on line 47.
What is the problem??

It is not you.
Due to php v7 it broke some custom code.
Looking into it.
Will report back when you can try again.

Give it a try now
Not sure if this version requires a email validation.
Meaning you might get a email to validate your password change.
If you do not reply to the email it will not change.

Just to explain the password change method.
For security
If someone other than you changes your password then you could not login.
So this feature will before becoming permanent it will send the user of record a email to validate if it was in fact you that requested the change.
This also applies to changing your email.
But they were added to the forum software at different versions.

Since this sites forum is a couple versions behind the current version I can not recall if they both are enabled here currently.

Well, after 3+ years of being kept logged in (except for 30-45 day auto logged out) I am having to log in every time I go to the chat site. Very annoying as I go there every day and sometime more than once a day. I tried the expire cookies remedy as explained above but made no difference. HELP

Could it be you are blocking cookies somehow set by this site?
Might be due to a new anti virus spam software you use now or possibly new windows version.
When did this issue start?

Sorry to take so long to respond. The logging on issue started approx 5-7 days ago. I kept hoping it would cure itself. When it didn't i remembered your old post about cookies so i looked it up and tried it. That didn't fix it and other issues appeared after that attempt. Several times when I tried to reply to your old post the screen would go all white then the Filling Station home page would appear. After closing and logging in several times I finally was able to make the request for help without TFS page appearing.. The square in the upper right that tell one if they are logged in or logged out has now disappeared. Thank goodness there is a place by my name to click on for the login/logout.
My IP is Comcast and I am still using Windows 7. Im going to try and post this reply now, hopefully it works.

Looks like i'm not the only one who lost the login/logout section according to other postings. Sure would love to have the "Keep me logged in" function working again.

Okay there was something odd the last two days because I had a similar issue every time I tried to login it went to the filling station also.
That has since stopped.

Hint,
Peter has asked me to upgrade this forum software so I will be completing that today or tomorrow..

BTW
You are the first person since 2020 that has reported a issue. with login.

You may end up needing to try the expire cookies one more time.
I upgraded the site today.

I've been on this VCCA site since 2008.

Different VCCA administrators, different fixes recommended.

Lived in different USA locations, different servers, different computers.

I still need to log in, each and every time.

It's not on the server/website side. Something on your end unfortunately.

You should only have to register once. If this is not the case, some admin. help is needed.

As for staying logged on, before you hit the Log in button on the logon screen, make sure you select (left click) the box that says Keep me logged in. See the pic below where this box is selected and circled in green.

If the next time you come to the site and are logged off, you might have something going on with your computer that automatically erases cookies. This site places a cookie (a small file) on your computer to remember that you are to be kept logged on. If this cookie gets deleted, then the auto logon doesn't work.

Hope this helps. Dean
