Bill,

Thanks for the heads up. I'm in dead center of it after it's eye is projected to hit Wilmington, NC. Another hundred miles inland and it will center on Fayetteville.

I'm going out right now moving the 41 CA car to the garage, I have walled in a space for it.

I'm sure that if I get everything protected then Florence will make a right-hand turn and never even get close. Let's hope so. dance

Best,

Charlie computer

BTW: I've seen the mice stocking up beer and pretzels. But what do they know? Agrin

Like billu38 "been there and done that" exactly a year ago today (9-11-18) with hurricane Irma, came right over the house. Luckily no damage and it diminished before it got here. Thoughts to our members in the area,be safe and let us know how you make out. Ed Dade City,Fl

We've battened down the hatches here and "rigged the ship for heavy weather". Thanks for your thoughts.

As one that has survived Harvey, Leo, Rita, as well as several others I wish you well. We have been very lucky to never had catastrophic damage from tropical storms or hurricanes. Wish y'all the same.

We are visiting my kids in Ohio. We planned to return this Saturday, but that may now be delayed.

Spent the last two afternoons prepping, work is still open and going.
picked up everything out of the yard and such. got fuel for the generator, picked up water and food supplies, put everything in the garage up off the floor (garage is slab on grade and loves to flood in heavy rains. today plan after work is to prep the koi pond, set up the sump pump, and move things inside.

hoping it makes a HARD right and runs out to sea and northward, as we do NOT need anymore rain and will pass on the winds !! we have had a WET summer and ground is saturated, our fear is winds and a repeat of what Isabel did back in 2003, came in with strong winds and blew about every tree over and we were with out power for 8 Days straight !!

everyone in the path or cone, be SMART, be SAFE !!

BF,

Sounds like you have been through it. Best of luck this time. Being without power is a real bummer. And, for 8 days. Mercy!

Stay safe and get some life jackets for the mice. Agrin

Best,

Keep safe. Were hoping it turns away. I remember as a kid helping my dad raise all the machines in his shop on Martha's Vineyard. The water rose to 6 feet so it was a loss.

Charlie, been through plenty of them growing up around this coastal area. some mild to some wild. never a fun day, and then the days, weeks, months of clean up and recovery afterwards. we have a good neighborhood group and help each other out. but now I am the youngest, so get the brunt of helping all the others that are 80+

well as of this morning, looks to be heading further south !!
good for us but scary for them, but at least it is weakening

Hope everyone is ok.
Here in South eastern VA we made out. A little wind a little rain. Nothing major.

I am glad we dont have much of this in my part of down under but at the moment we have the opposite in lack of surface water. I hope none of my VCCA friends are in trouble as a result of Florence.

We just got our electricity back at 1 PM today. It wen out on Friday night at about 10:30. I've been using my small 2K Honda generator to power my freezer and refrigerator and a few lights in the house.

Other than that we got along quite well. The Cape Fear is about 50 feet above normal and is expected to almost inundate some of the bridges across it. I-85 and I-40 are closed in places.

This storm was about as bad as Matthew a few years ago. That time I had a large oat blown down in my front yard. This time just limbs and leaves blown out. Lots of leaves and they have made a mess.

I had to take a cold shower this morning. The doggies were complaining that I stunk.

The generator performed just fine and it has always used 10% ethanol. Just saying. Agrin

Thanks to all who thought about us down here in the path of this large hurricane. It wasn't pleasant but we survived.

I hope no one was hurt or serverily bothered by this storm and, down the important stuff line, that all our old cars got through it without being water damaged or bent up..

Best wishes to all,

Charlie computer

Charlie, am I ever glad to read that you are OK. On our government radio news this morning (Canada Broadcasting Corporation) they had a reporter telling us up here about the flooding in North Carolina. The reporter was reporting from Fayetteville and describing all the flooding she could see around her.

BF,

Bob, may have missed your post.

Or, he may still be in shock that anyone would even inquire about his condition. You know. dance Agrin dance2 bike

I think he may be okay though because he recently advised someone about some 13 inch tires over in another forum. I assume he's okay.

Best,

Charlie computer

BTW: I do hope that Bob is alright also. And Lord knows I'm only kidding him.l dance
