i had a very old friend call me up today looking for some information, i don't think he is real computer savy because he did not seem to be able to find this site. his dad roy strevel had a 1936 truck he won lots of trophies with back i the late 90's anyway this guy his name is bob strevel is roys oldest boy roy died back in 2000 but bob is looking for some xxxl tee shirts form the club. if anyone has some they can send bob strevel let me know and i can hook you guys up somehow. he knows he may have to buy them but his dad roy was going to give bob some before he died but never got the chance. bob forgot all about it until a few years ago and has been trying to find contacts ever since. so any help sure would be welcome. thanks bob p.

Don't know Bob but did know Roy and the truck. Roy was one top notch gentleman and the truck top quality. I am not a T-shirt person and surely not XXXL size so not sure I can help on that front.

i lived about 1/4 mile west of strevels. i knew them my whole life from as soon as i could remember till he died. did not chum with bob strevel but bob's kid sister lu. or he may caller lucy i did hang around with her some. roy was a member of the port city puddle jumpers car club of which i'm also a member, he was not to active when i joined that club. anyway maybe someone here may know where i can get some xxxl vcca tee shirts to send out to bob so he and his grandson have a matching set to wear to events they go to.

thanks for the reply. roys truck sat in his store for years never moving anywhere unless he had a show. he never drove it around our area but to get it in the trailer. it was a dandy truck though.

The Strevel Canopy Express truck I remember seeing in many photos was a 1933, not a 1936. Were there 2 trucks? Is he looking for T shirts with a picture of the truck? If so, he can have them made.

can't tell you exactly what year it was, as i was going by what his boy was telling me. and yes he wants tee shirts but to be honest i can't say with the truck on it. but if i was to guess i would say yes. i don't know if he knows how or where to get them.

he only had the one truck that i know of. i saw it many times setting behind the hardware counter thru the doors to the garage. he had fake fruit on it i know. i would see him drive it into the trailer many times.

he also had a humpback chevy that sat in the same place in the driveway forever then one day it was gone, so i asked his youngest girl where it went and she said it was out for restoration. so i believe that truck went out for a restoration as well, roy was not a handyman, he had my dad and our neighbor do all sorts of repairs for him during the years.

he sold the store to a guy that bugged him for years to sell and then a few years after that, the store burned down due to an electrical failure in the attic. the old wiring gave out and burned it down. they rebuilt the store and made it completely different. after that it did not do as well. and now is closed. i go by that area now and then just to see the old neighborhood. i lived down the road from them for 40 years.

if anyone knows of tee shirts let me know and i can tell bob strevel so he can look into getting some. have to check back as i don't see any subscriptions for these threads. bp.

ok talked to bob strevel today and the 1936 was his dads car the humpback chevy. my mistake. we talked about both cars and i guess i did not hear him good enough. thanks for the correction on that. if anyone knows where he can get his hands on the vcca tee shirts please let me know and i will get that information to him. he does not like email and forums anymore only facebook. my guess is you may get in contact with him thru there and maybe under bob strevel or robert strevel. in ct. on ellis road. i bet he would love to chat with some of the guys that knew his dad. thanks bob p.
