My car is a 1933 Master 5 window coupe. It was probably restored about 40 years ago. The interior is old and not in great shape. I am afraid of destroying it trying to clean it, and I can't really afford to replace the interior at this time. I am not even sure what kind of material it is. Here is a short video of it.
I'm open to all suggestions. This forum has helped me figure things out many times and I am thankful.

The original material can be cleaned with the same stuff that is used to wash wool sweaters. Light vacuuming using several passes is the first step. Then dampen and pat is the easiest on the fragile material. Might let dry between applications followed by another light vacuuming. Take your time and it will turn out well.

The oxygenated woolite worked great. Thanks for all of the tips.

Glad you asked before trying something too harsh or gave up and replaced the material. There is a lot of experience both good and bad that can result in others using a proper remedy.

I had really good results cleaning the original interior in my '37 Master coupe with Orvus Paste. This older post describes how to use it.

Cleaning Upholstery

I used it for the seats, door panels, visors, and headliner. The results were impressive.

Tips to remember:
1) Be patient.
2) Use a damp wash rag to blot the foam on to the upholstery/cloth and gently wipe it.
3) Rinse by blotting it with another damp wash rag and rinse/wring that rag frequently in clean water.

By the way, I have a whole lot left over! I bet I did not use 10% of a 7 1/2 pound jar which is the smallest I could buy.

I will be glad to send you a couple of pounds. Send me a PM.
