Should my radiator cap be 0 pounds on a stock 216ci engine and cooling system in my 38 Master Deluxe? I need to replace my radiator cap.
Thank you

I think I have the answer from chevofthe40s, 0lbs. When I had a 52 Styleline Deluxe I replaced the radiator cap with a 7lb cap as suggested by a young fellow at a Autozone type store. As soon as i installed and drove car for a while coolant blew my heater core. Shame on me for not checking myself. Live and learn

I don't think the original style 38 neck will even seal a pressure cap.

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

First you can not use a pressure cap on a 1939 or earlier radiaor. The overflow tube is in the top of the tank, not in the filler neck, so the system can not hold pressure.

Also the neck on pre1948 radiatorsis not designed for apressure cap.

A 1952 could easily run a 7 pound cap as that is what the cap pessure was increased to in 1954 IF THE CORES ARE IN GOOD CONDITION AND CAN HANDLE THE EXTRA 3 POUNDS.
