Anybody know the whereabouts of a known original Canadian built 1935 Standard? I'm doing some leg work for Dave Sylvain & have some questions about dash details. Looking for pictures also of dash. Thank you, Joe

My Canadian information list a 1935 Standard covering all body styles and a model 1289 4 door "Deluxe" version.

In discussions years back I believe the "Deluxe" had a nicer instrument panel. A Canadian member had such a model and was the 1935 Canadian Standard T.A.....but I believe he is unable to answer today.

I also saw his car a coule of times and if I am not mistaken the Inst. panel was fully wood brained.

I can see if I'm able to get pictures of the car Gene mentions, from Dave's wife. It may take a while, but I'll see what I can do.

WOW,
I don't think I could have brought myself to punch a hole in that dash for my accessory temperature gauge.

I'm pretty sure that dash is original. I remember Dave having the car painted back in the early eighties, and it was in good original shape then.

Also, that's a sedan, so it has some extra garnish moulding s that the roadster wouldn't have.

Brewster, the layout of the dash panel is way diff than a roadster. It , 34-35 std roadster doesn't have the indentations on the top area of the dash panel like the fisher built cars.

The pictured 35 dash looks beautiful, but its the black shading that's throwing me off.

The wood graining is done "over top of" a caramel colored base , to best of my knowledge and when I have seen them done. It looks right but It doesn't look right for some reason.

The roadster dash is at least 2" wider per side than closed car fisher body .

Dave sent an e-mail to me saying that we did such a good job of finding a Fisher body dash that maybe we could get lucky & find a Roadster dash for comparison. Possibly a Phaeton could be the same but that doesn't make the hunt any easier. Canadian of coarse. Thank you, Joe

that's going to be a tough search as we only made three 35 standard phaeton for domestic home sales.

We also only produced 50 roadsters in 1935 for domestic sale and the one dave sylvain is working on is body #50. The dash on that car was re-painted black.

I have both a roadster and a phaeton for 35 and both dash panels were re-painted by somebody before I got the cars.

Might be worth a call or email to Reynolds Alberta Museum. Stan Reynolds collected a TON of cars and stuff and they have a large collection of historical documentation so maybe they have pictures...

Is a '34 Standard different from a '35 Standard? One of the Elliot's that owned the wrecking yard in Newtonville has a '34 roadster. I'm not sure if it's Canadian and haven't seen it since about 1985...

We don't know if they're different but it certainly wouldn't hurt to collect the information in case future generations look to restoring one of the great pieces of history...Joe
