Hello Bengt Johansson,
According to a post by Chev Nut on 02/17/2011 post #198384 at 06:21 PM, part number 590874 belongs to Chevy transmissions from 1937 to 1939. I do not know if it is a three speed or other and I do not know if it is for a car or truck or both. Someone else should fill in those details. Regards

A287 means:
A= Januar
B= Februar
C= Mars......
28 means day of month
7 are the last digit in year
The case are made 28. Januar 1937

Yes...with modifications to your current driveline. However, since the transmission is a for a truck and not a passenger car I wouldn't recommend doing it.

The internal parts for '37-'39 passenger transmission and '37-'39 truck 3 speed are the same except for a longer main shaft. The truck case is made longer to make it the same length as the truck 4 speed so that they can be readily interchanged.
