To Steve and Paul, thanks for your ideas. Buried in these pages, I had addressed these issues earlier, and I can't blame anyone for not wanting to go through all of my posts, or for anyone to remember them. Even though for years I had run the truck off a gallon can, 2 years ago I hooked back up to the fuel tank, as I had some time between jobs to put some miles on, and exercise the engine to some extent. I have 2 inline filters installed, one before the pump and one at the carburetor. That being said and because they are clear filters, I can keep an eye on any dirt in the system. I also tried running the engine with the exhaust pipe and muffler disconnected and found no improvement except it's LOUDER.( I learned the hard way on detroits to never forget the exhaust system). I have been really busy with my so called part time work, that I havn't had any time but to button it all up and get her running. I mentioned that I didn't expect much improvement, but I can drive around town without wondering if I'll need AAA to get home. To Jim and Terill I just realized today that I had messages and I hope to respond soon. This is still new for me. Thanks again to everyone and have a great weekend, Bob

Just remember that most people did not run these trucks more than 50 M. P. H. During the day most highways were 45 M. P. H. posted speed limit. Also, note: "should the PING be objectionable to some owners, the engine may be retarded 5 degrees by installing "spark control stop" part No. 602111 on the vaccuum advance".
