Confirm it is correct for what year According to Mike, he believes it is a '41. According to Chipper, their is at least 3 '41 jacks. Then their is the one Gene has shown pictures of. Then their is the friction one. Yours operates just like the one shown on the '41 jack tag sold by COT40's. You already demonstrated that it works that way. So unless someone can prove otherwise, go with it is one of the three. I hope to have pictures of one like Gene has shown us as a '41 next week. Read all the post, with all the links, in my post over at '37-'42. You will find Charlie bought one that is just like Gene's but no base, and one of the friction type.

Yes, thanks to the '37-'42 thread.
So we have covered '37-'54 pretty well. The only open questions are a '42/'46 jack and the ever so elusive '48 standard.
It seems some of the people I have e-mail about their '48 jacks decline to send pictures once I explain about the specification to look for. But, I will keep looking and asking. Someday, maybe.

The 1948 parts book shows handle # 3653663 used for 1940-1948 jacks.

Is the end rounded or beveled for cap removal and what is the length?as we know the 40 is 3/4" thick,not the same with the 46-48?

The handles I have for the older cars other then the 40 are 1/2" thick...Doesn't the 40 use a long steel rod?

...Doesn't the 40 use a long steel rod According to David's picture of his '40 and Gene's picture of the '41, they both use the rod. As for when the taper on the lug wrench started, don't know. Maybe '49? '48 jack handle, which jack?

Yes, the 1940 Chevrolet jack came with a straight steel rod as a jack handle. The lug nut wrench also fits the 1940 jack.

all 46-48....I have 2 jack handles neither have the taper...They are the same as the pic Gene sent with the jack on the box and in the trunk
