Will the distributor from a 51 216 swap into a 54 firs seies 235?Thanks...Ron

The distributor will fit,engine will run but the advance curves are not the same,the '51 has the old style cap .I would do it as a temporary measure but try to replace it with a dist. from a 54 and up stick shift car or that vintage truck.

Thank you for your reply.I am just trying to get the engine running so i can move it around and check the systms.I s a difference between a 6 vot distributor and a 12 volt?Will any 54 on up distributor from a 235 be corect?Thanks Ron

Yes, it will be OK for that purpose.The 6 volt and 12 volt distributors are the same.They just tweeked the advance curves thru the years and relocated the vav. advance position to clear motor mounts and things in some years.
