Not really, since the car is a "flower car" and it serves a purpose in it's present state. And....that purpose is to drive the street rod dudes crazy that see it! Unfortunately, the only way that planter box would make it back on the road now, would be as a street rod. :( :( :( :( So, it is more useful (to me anyway) as a planter box. laugh laugh laugh

JYD, I will look around and see if I have some Texas Blue Bonnet seeds for you to plant in the 32 and the ???? Tractor. We probably sent some of them to China with the "Don't Mess With Texas!" stickers! I could also send you some Fire Ants to guard the Blue Bonnets if you wish!

Hey Macky Wacky! Yes, send me some Texas Blue Bonnet seeds for my '32 Chevy planter. I think that the Blue Bonnets would look great growing in the car. On the fire ants, while I will send you a list of a few dudes that you can send those to instead.  laugh laugh laugh laugh

Hey Donald: You installed a rumble seat in your '32 coupe. Can you tell some of the guys what you did and how you did it? I'm sure lots of fellows would appreciate what you went through, where you found the parts and etc. laugh laugh laugh laugh

Hey Donald;

Just how did you do that?

It don't have to be a step by step, but some important pointers would help...

Hey RGwiz. I had the body guy do all my metal work and what he did was, cut the skin off the top side of the rumble lid and then he fitted and mig welded the new skin onto the main part of the lid. I dont know the condition of your lid, but if you can have it reworked and the dents taken out, That would be the way to go. I think the new skin was about two hundred twenty five dollars plus shipping. If you can have it reworked, then I would do that. thanks :) :) chevy chevy :) :)

Thanks Donald!

That advice is well taken. As you know, I'm The mizer on the block. If there is a way to save the existing lid, I'm going to do it.

I just might have found a guy do tinker with the lid over the winter.

My lid is rotted on the bottom passenger side and very wavy on the surface. Like I told JYD, it looks like someone hit it a few times with a baseball bat.

Because it's wavy and not deep dents, it might have to be heated and re-shaped. I don't have the know how or equipment to do that.

Thanks for the advice... dance

I think that If you can find a good metal man In your area, Then let him hammer away with your lid and I would bet that It would turn out very good. I dont think you want to spend twelve hundred dollars like I did on my lid. Now If I could just find that original battery case, then I would be well on the way to completing my restoration. Good Luck on your rumble seat lid. :) :) chevy chevy chevy chevy :) :)

At the risk of starting a new string at someone else's expense, just what do you mean by the battery box?

Do you mean the 3 pieces of metal that the battery sits in?

Mine was intact when I got the car, and I could measure it and send you what I have. I think it's original... It looks easy to make out of plain sheet metal. Two bends and you have it done.

I think that Old Donald is talking about an original 1932 Delco battery case for his '32 Chevy. He is looking for an original battery case to have rebuilt into a new battery. laugh laugh laugh laugh

Auto-Zone, or Interstate? I have one of each and also six from Tractor Supply in the golf cart and four on the bass boat, all six volt I buy them all with car top terminals and use adapters on the golf cart and boat, I have lots of spares that way.

Rex, don't like kibbles and bits, he says it is "Sissy" dog food, and the sparrows like it too much.

Yeah different strokes , you know, Rex is partial to Rib Eyes but he don't turn down bolona either, in fact he eats almost anything I do. Even goose liver and brautwierst.
