I am the director of the Long Island Region and just received a packet of information from Eckler's of Titusville. Seems they are starting a new "club" called Association of Classic Enthusiasts or "ACES". For a mere $225.00 and a copy of your club roster, your whole club can become members and can reap the benefits. So what are the benefits...besides some free door prizes and a little advertising for your club, they are selling three pages of an insurance policy!! Now correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the VCCA provide insurance for car shows, I know we had it when we did our regional show last summer.
This offer almost seems like a way for Eckler's to work their way into the VCCA now that personalized vehicles are allowed. When I see things like this, my suspicious mind starts working and I start looking for who might benefit from something like this.
I would be interested to know if this information has made it out there yet and what people think about it

Our San Jacinto Region director also received the packet from Ecklers. Don't know how they got the addresses, maybe the G&D?

Yes the VCCA has liability insurance for all events. It is automatic as long as it is an official event. That includes meetings, meets, tours, etc. So the offer does not have much value to the VCCA. The negative is far more likely.

SPAM comes in many forms.

Just "round file" it.

I got one myself on Tuesday! The easy answer is they found all the directors on VCCA.org as we are the main contact for our regions. What I find interesting is the information really does not tell you much, but it sure asks for your members names and contact information. I wonder what they really are up to? I find it interesting that it shows up just at the same time that our region information normally shows up? Wonder how may regions will really question what they got?

It looks like a marketing program. Do they want all of our email addresses? Yes they do. I would send the information into the recycle bin and help our environment out.
As many of you know already, the VCCA provides insurance for sanctioned VCCA events. We have been doing that for many years now.

I'm wary of Ecklers. They've enveloped Classic Chevy International and Late Great Chevy. I wonder if they want to gobble up the VCCA.

I've been dissatisfied with some of the parts I bought from them. The parts are often poor quality and/or don't fit right.

I am always looking for a conspiracy, is there anyone high up on the BOD that has any ties with Eckler's?

You can look all you want but VCCA doesn't have any ties to Eckler's. They are on a phishing trip. Looking for mullets. Got to snag or net them as they bottom feeders and don't bite.

I agree with the sentiments...

sure they are Phishing and that they are aware of the issues & concerns raised about the VCCA recently. They may be looking to catch those interested in a ALTERNATIVE per say. Never know,, ,they could be venturing for inside info and possible a way to take over and such. then again could just be building a legit club looking for interested members. sure most of us belong to MORE than ONE club currently.

Ecklers is a corporation that makes a profit and they are seeking more profit opportunities. The Classic Chevrolet clubs (55-57) and Late Great (58-64) have been owned by Ecklers in the past. I'm not sure if Ecklers is still the owner. I have visited with members of those clubs and they basically do not like Ecklers. My selling point for VCCA is that this club is owned by the members, not a business. I even had discussions with two regions to move their membership to VCCA and form a 1955-1964 non-geographic region and create their own magazine. I know they made changes within those clubs to retain membership. That discussion took place in 2011. The Tulsa chapter of the Classic Chevrolet and Late Great Chevrolet merged together about 3 years ago and changed their by-laws to include all years of Chevrolet's from 1911 to current. Since that change and due some great officers in that club it is growing significantly in the Tulsa area, primarily due to the Chevrolet's from 1965 to 1973. I'm not a member, I have done a powerpoint presentation at one of their meetings and if you do not have a 1955 to 1973 you would feel out of place.

Gottcha John,

If you join that club, that would mean that you would have to relieve yourself of the 50 and the 53. HMMMMMM, now, which one would I get, with free shipping of course, as I love em' both.

The 59-62's were always my thing. I inherited the 53, and the 50 just seemed like the thing to do at the time....
On the 58-64's there is no longer a focused group like there was. National Impala never was anything to speak of, and now seems to be more of 65 and up group.
