Someone correct me if I'm wrong... but aren't the 38s stubbier?

I'm referring to the sheet metal... the actual bucket....LOL

Any other differences?

I've owned both but someone asked me and frankly I an not sure?

About the only two things that are the same for 1937 and 1938 is the lenses and rim.
The 1937 lights are adjusted by a large single bolt that allows the complete lamp to swivel around. Same for the mounting bracket.
The 1938 light is bolted solid to the shell (and bracket) and is adjusted by moving the reflectoe. This is done (in 1938 and 1939) by removing the little plug or cover on the inner side of the light next to the rim and accessing the adjusting screws.

How about the actual sheet metal bucket?

The skin.. the body color bucket?

The reflectors are different diameters too.

Ok.. to make clear...

If someone is building a 37

and the headlight buckets are missing....

The needed BUCKETS are unique to 37?

38s are different?

The bucket itself.. not the guts........

The external shape and size of the buckets are the same. Where the bucket attches to the support is very different. The fact the the reflector is stationary in 1937 and adjustable in 1938 is a big difference in mounting.
Also the shell is very different where and how the support is mounted to the shell.
