The Filling Station has everything you need, but the Head. You will need to check the head you have, if you have 1 inch valves you have the early head, if you have 1 inch and 1 1/2 inch valves you have a later head. Chevy used the later head on the 28 but added a second exhaust port because the single port would tend to crack. Make sure you have any of the heads pressure check.

The valve head size used on early 1927's and all earlier model engines had a 1 1/2" dia head. The late 1927's used the same valves as a 1928 National AB and the valve head diameter was
1 21/32"

1928 head is a safer buy. a good 1927 head single port can run 500 to 1500.

I have a 1927 Chevy Capital AA 4 Door also a 1927 Chevy Touring car, a 1936 Chevy 1/2 ton and a 2010 Corvette LT3 Convertible and a 1953 Packard Caribbean. My tow car is a 2011 Suburban.

I stand correct CJP is right, Ken is also right about the head, it all depends on what you want to do with the car. Go for points or fun or both. For fun only use what you have or 28 head. I wanted to keep my original late 27 head. It leaked at the exhaust port and 3 more places inside the head. I took it to a shop that specialized in repairing rare heads and blocks, the cut it open on top, welded with cast, and than brazed other leaks and finally floated porcelain for strength. Cost $400.00 Finding a 27 or 28 head ready to install would be almost impossible and very expensive. I looked for a 27 and all I could find were in worse condition than mine.

There was a fully reco 28 head on Ebay recently for $900

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/
