I have a 48 Fleetline and have removed the tranny for rebuild.I found that the rubber on the mount has deteariated and needed replaced.I purchessed a rebuild kit on line that states that its good for years up to 48,when I received it, the instructions stated"for use on a 46".I removed all the dead rubber from the mount, bracket and 2 bolt shims and tested how the new rubber would fit-not so great-I will need to do some minor fabrication. My question is ,what precautions should I be awear of as I put this part back together,i.e.height,ajustablity etc.The tranny mount (large plate)has very large bolt holes and when I removed it there were not washers and I can see if I replace it useing the new rubber I will definately need to use washers or make a plate to fit over the rubber with smaller holes to keep the bolt heads from going through the rubber...thanks..chef- chevy

I have never heard of such a kit.I would find a NOS mount (they are not that Rare) or have old mount revaulcanized, which is rather expensive.I see that Chevs of the 40s have new ones for $67.00 also.Correct mount is very important as it not only controlls heighth but also fore & aft movement.

Chev Nut,I would have loved to use a replacement part and some months ago I had also seen the tranny mount at Chevs of the 40s,but no longer available.I got the mount re-build kit from the filling station and hoped it would adapt well.It is not too far off but I guess I should search for the proper replacement?chef- chevy
