Three times this week I accessed Chat and had to log in. I never log out and always check the remember me button. Has something changed?

Did you re-boot your computer? That drops out all the temporary changes you have made.

I turn it off every day so it reboots on start up but I've never had that issue before. For some reason Chat isn't seeing the cookie on occasion.

I have had the exact same problem as well and I never log out either. It does it on both of my browsers. My problem started shortly after the last upgrade.

Well, I've got confirmation from some other Forums that they are experiencing the same thing too. In the last major software upgrade, there was a "fix" added so that it would work with the new versions of Microsoft IE. And as a result it sets the cookie expiration date to 7 days.

If you document this behavior, it "should" happen after the 7th day. Can anybody confirm that?

I'm still trying to figure out if the cookie expiration occurs with other browsers to. (Firefox and Chrome)

Ya just gotta love those upgrades! ha! Anyway, yes it is happening with Firefox too. I also have that browser and it has the same issue as it does with my IE.

Hopefully you can find a fix.

No problem here but I'm probably not on as much or as often as some.

I have been out of town for eight days, when I returned I was logged out when I arrived home. I logged on on three occasions on Sunday, each time I returned to the computer I was logged out, haven't had a problem since Sunday.

Okay, all of that info helps narrow it down.

Could anyone who uses Firefox or Chrome, keep an eye out and look for an "expiration" time? Thanks.

The more that I look at this, the more I think that it is specific to IE.

I'll post a cool (Free) app here later today/tonight that you can use to check the Expiration date/times on your cookies.

Hey Billy Boy Barker: Along with IE I also have Firefox and I have the same problem on Firefox as well. I just went there to check Firefox and I had to log in yet again! Each time that I log into either IE or Firefox I always check the "Remember Me" box but after a few days the box is unchecked and I have to log in on each browser again. Tiny also has Firefox and he apparently has the same problem too so the problem does exist on both Firefox and IE.

Here's a program that I use too look at IE cookies. I'm currently testing it to see if you can extend your EXPIRATION date for chat.

IE COOKIE VIEWER/EDITOR

Note that the Chat cookie can be found by searching (edit/find)for "vcca". I have 6 cookies showing there.

If you mess up your cookies... go to "Kill My Chat Cookies" down the right-hand column on the Chat homepage. Delete them all and start again.

I haven't been on for a few days but discovered today that I had to log in (I have always been in automatic mode). I did and then went to another site. When I came back to chat, I had to log in again. My computer guru was here yesterday and I thought he might have reset my cookies or deleted my "allow VCCA". I checked those and they are still intact. Another oddity that has popped up recently is that in some posts, a word or several words appear in orange and have a double underscore. If I click on an orange word, I get a pop-up ad. My computer guru said those are not coming from anything in my computer but are but in there by the person making the post. Has anyone else seen this anomoly? Beamer

Is that what they are called? Any known way to get rid of them? I have about every pop-up blocker, anti-spam, malware, etc., program known to man. These things just started appearing very recently. Beamer

They are NOT enabled by us on Chat.

If you see them when you're looking at a Chat page, then you have an "ad tracking" feature added to your browser.

Two ways to find it.
1. Look at programs enabled upon Startup.
2. Look for a cookie beginning with Ad or Tracker or some such thing in it's name --- and Delete it.

-OR-

It could be enable by your Google toolbar.

-OR-
If you use Firefox, this could be causing it.

I had the ad thing a while ago and only on chat, as Bill suggested check all hard drive files for "ad????" in particular but tracker as well then delete it. Worked for me.
