Hi all,

Yes, I can google, but I'm hoping there a favorite place amongst Chevy enthusiasts where I can start a blog on my project. It needs to be pretty simple and host my pics, I am pretty hopeless with computers. Can you recommend me something?

Cheers,

Hugo

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Looks like you have made a good start on 2 projects. The second will take longer to complete than restoring the truck.
Have fun doing both.

Looks like a decent start. Several projects have started with vehicles in much worse condition. Don't know if you can get the '28 hood to fit the '29/'30 opening or if you will need to either fabricate and extension or find a proper hood. Once you get it in your possession you can start to make a list of what is needed. It will take some time but working on a few pieces at a time can give pleasure and make progress.

Thanks, guys!

I'm working on a list of ideas. They range from fully original to putting on Jag suspension, fitting a 350 V8, chopping the roof, etc. I will probably end up somewhere in the middle. I just found a site on tuning the later model straight 6 engines, I might go that route. Seems more 'the way it should be', a straight 6. Then again, fitting a jet engine and monstertruck tires is high on my 4-year old son's list, and he has a strong say in all this, of course.

For the first few years, I'll stick to making lists and maybe collect some bits and bobs. I visit the US from time to time for my job, I might source a late truck wreck and strip it for parts. Need a place and some tools for that, though. Hmmmm....

Cheers,

Hugo

I know you realize that we will encourage you to put it back to the way it was built. We are not single sighted so do kinda understand if you feel you want upgrade the performance. Will provide what ever assistance we can but may not have as much experience or expertise as other forum folks. If you are like many others the older you get the more you appreciate the past and preserving it. Of course there is the practical side where you need to be able to enjoy it along with all the other vehicles on the highways.

Hahaha, I figured jet engines and monstertruck tires wouldn't go down well on a vintage forum! I have some friends begging for an all original restoration, but I think I will not do more than one truck, so this one should become my personal dream, which touches of my son's and wife's input.

In all honesty, I feel a bit lost on various forums and chose this one as a good start. On hot rod forums they go way too far for my liking, here it is too vintage. I need a 50/50 forum... Any advise is welcome.

Cheers,

Hugo

One thing to try to remember is one modification often leads to one or more that were not anticipated. A well thought out plan and advise from those that have tried it can help save many $$$ and also sanity.

Very true. This is why I make the wish list. This will be re-written into a project plan later, covering the project is steps. I've done several cars for other people when I was younger, transforming road going wrecks into classic racers.

About sanity, sorry, lost that long ago. I have a wife to cover that part of our family. I always say I have two kids, she has three to cater to...

Sounds like a good idea...

sometimes it is easier to work backwards. Inventory what you have, Figure out what you want and how you want it, then figure out how you are going to get there.

Chipper is right, many times you start off on a mission and then change paths and onething leads to another. we call that scope creep... straying from the path ! Make a plan of action and stick to it. That is what i have done. got it posted on my garage wall, so everytime i drift or dream it slaps me back to what i am supposed to be doing !!

Since you are doing a truck a great forum for trucks is Stovebolt Great group there as well and they are 100% Chevrolet/ GMC Trucks any year !! Could also look at ChevyTalk.com huge mix bag there, but good info as well...
