Wow! I can't believe there has not been a posting here since April!! Anyway, I just opened up the differential on my 1-Ton tow truck. I've posted the pictures under VCCA members photos, but now that I say that I think I can also attach here. The first photo has an arrow that points to the left side of the differential. I cannot find this part in the exploded diagrams of the differential in the parts books I have. The second photo is a close up of the part in question. This part has teeth that are horizontal and there is a ring on it that when you turn only the left wheel when it's up in the air the ring snaps back and forth. It does not look like spider gears and side gears! When I described this to someone, he said sounds like a posi. Any thoughts out there? I'll also post in the Chevy Trucks
forum, since this forum doesn't seem to see much use! :-)
