VCCA Home Forums TECHNICAL - 1945 AND EARLIER 1929-1932 32 head bolt torque specs

I have looked in my repair manual and at the GM Heritage site at the specs for a 32 and can not find what the torque specs are for the head bolts. It just says "tighten esch one evenly and in order shown in cylinder head bolt tightening diagram". I'm sure it is problably listed but where? Thanks for any help.

There are no torque specs. listed in your manual because they were not used back then. At any rate, for used head bolts, tighten them to 55-65 pounds.

Thanks for the info JYD Are new ones the same? I got them from the FS.

With new head bolts you can probably torque those to 75 or 80 pounds.

For a reminder, remember to chase and clean the threads in the engine block to eliminate false torque readings and possible bolt seizure or breakage. Cheers
